Why steam is so good for cleaning

Steam cleaners use dry, superheated steam under pressure. The benefits are many: dry steam leaves very little water behind; superheated steam—at temperatures from 160 °C—opens the pores of the surface to release deeply embedded grime; and the high pressure blows the loosened dirt away.
